| The reception for Les Gourmets this year is going to be quite different from those of the past: It will be busier and more detail oriented. We will be representing several different countries of the Mediterranean, each with their own 3-D mural display. All of our reception supervisors are extremely excited and have submitted updates on their work thus far: The planning for reception is really coming along. I am in charge of the display for Turkey. I just recently got a bunch of the items I will be using for the display, and I am getting really excited about putting it all together. Reception met on Friday, and we went to a few stores in the area to get some ideas. It really seems like everyone is on the same page, and everyone seems to have great ideas. Soon we are going to get together to work on the silhouette artwork. I can't wait to see it all come together. -Megan The Spain section of Reception is coming along well. It will have a silhouette of a bull in the background, a completed statue of a flamenco dancer, and brightly colored pictures depicting the sport of bullfighting and monuments of Spain. There will also be elements of Spain's wine country represented with wine bottles and other accessories such as glasses and a wine barrel. Bright colors and the lively atmosphere of the country will shine through in this representation of Spain. -Haley Right now I am working on gathering items that best represent Morocco. I am trying to figure out what the best way to set up a table to convey to the guests that it is Morocco, while still holding on to the classiness that is Les Gourmets. I have found some cool lanterns, and I am working on getting a good deal for floor pillows to add to the theme. Les Gourmets is rapidly approaching, and I can't wait! -Abby Currently I am working on the concept for Southern France. My initial idea was to construct a dock and screens to serve oysters on, but there is concern as to how this would work with the rest of the room. Now I am playing around with the idea of a flower market and conveying the countryside of Southern France. I have looked into artificial flowers and found some really cool pictures of castles and cottages in Southern France that I think we could use. I can't wait until it all comes together! -Brooke |
