LES GOURMETS 2019 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Siena Sapio is a Senior in The School of Hospitality Business, from Fort Collins, Colorado. She joined Les Gourmets in her Sophomore year as a supervisor for the Arts & Entertainment department. Last year she served as Director of A&E, and is so excited to be CEO for Les Gourmets 2019! Throughout her time at MSU, she has worked at Noyac Golf Club in Sag Harbor, NY as their F&B Rotational intern, Indian Hill Club in Winnetka, IL as their F&B Management intern, and Cowles House at MSU as a Banquet Server. Siena is looking forward to starting a career in club management after graduation. She is excited to apply the knowledge she’s gained from her experiences over the years to make the 68th edition of Les Gourmets the best one yet!
Claire Domanick is a senior in The School of Hospitality Business with a focus on corporate event planning. This is Claire’s second year on Les Gourmets and she is very much looking forward to collaborating with the board to make this year’s event one to remember. In addition to Les Gourmets, Claire has held two internships working with Micro Research as an events and trade shows intern as well as with Foster the Family, a foster care nonprofit. She has a passion for events and hopes to translate that passion into Les Gourmets!
Erik Yang is from Taipei, Taiwan. He volunteered for Les Gourmets for two consecutive years. and always wanted to served on the executive board. He works at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in Banquet Department as a Crew Leader. He was promoted from server to trainer to bartender and finally to crew leader. This summer he worked in the Housekeeping Department at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton. Erik wants to pursue a position in hotel operations after graduation. He loves operations and is extremely confident in guiding a team. He is so excited to gain experience as COO of the 68th Les Gourmets.
DIRECTOR OF RECEPTION
Julianna is a Senior in The School of Hospitality from Cresskill, New Jersey, about ten minutes from New York City. She is the Director of Reception for Les Gourmets this year as well as the CFO for SHFM. This is her second year on the e board for Les Gourmets. This is her third year as a hospitality business major. She was originally interested in a kinesiology major. She is interested in sports and entertainment, and the food and beverage segments of the hospitality industry.

Rachel Powell is a sophomore majoring in Hospitality Business with a minor in environmental and sustainable studies and a minor in Leadership of Organizations. This is her second year on the Les Gourmets Executive Board and she is so excited to be a part of the reception team and fulfill all of her Pinterest fantasies for what this event will look like. When she is not working on Les Gourmets, she can be found at her job as a tour guide, or her other job working in SIRC helping students. Additionally, she is a mentor for RISE, her living-learning community that focuses on the environment, the director of marketing and fundraising for CMAA and the director of events for SHFM. She is looking forward to the event coming together and for everyone to enjoy the evening!

Stella Kent is a junior in The School of Hospitality Business from Rochester Hills, Michigan. This is her second year serving on the Les Gourmets Executive Board, where she was previously a Supervisor of Reception. She is so grateful to continue on the Executive Board, alongside Julianna and Rachel. She can typically be found in the Kellogg Center, where she is a banquet server. She hopes to continue her passion for events through an event planning internship this summer.

Mackenzie Sappe is a senior studying Hospitality Business, originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Mackenzie first joined Les Gourmets as a Front of House Supervisor during her freshman year and last year she served Co-Director of Front of House. This year, Mackenzie is excited to take on a new role as Director of Marketing. Along with Les Gourmets, Mackenzie is also a part of the CAREER EXPO board, serving as Director of Professional Development Programs. This past summer, Mackenzie interned at the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle as a Rooms Division Intern, working mostly in housekeeping. She has a passion for Food and Beverage and is excited to help create a truly memorable event.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Sally Ran is a junior studying major in Hospitality Business, from Beijing, China. She is planning to major in Real Estate Investment Management. This year she is the Assistant Director of Marketing. She worked as a front desk agent in Kellogg Hotel & Conference center during her freshman year and worked as front of the offer for Entertainment Cruises Company in Boston. She volunteered for Les Gourmets last year and after that decided to apply for the executive board. She studied aboard in Norway last summer and traveled to several countries during the time. She is looking forward to this year’s Les Gourmets!

Amy is a Senior in The School of Hospitality Business and minoring in Japanese. She is expected to graduate in Spring 2019. She is from Troy, MI. This will be her third year involved in Les Gourmets and her second year on executive board. Amy is currently a Student Supervisor at the MSU Union QSR. She spent her summer interning at Kosch Dining Solutions as an Assistant Manager. She is excited to be apart of another year on the Executive Board for Les Gourmets and hopes to make it even better!

James Miller is a Freshman at MSU pursuing a degree in Hospitality Business. He is from Harrison Township, Michigan. This will be his first year with Les Gourmets, and he could not be more excited to see the event develop this year. While on campus James is a member of The Spartan Marching Band Color Guard and well as PCMA.
Shelbie Lock is currently a senior in The School of Hospitality Business and is participating in Les Gourmets for her second year. Last year, Shelbie was a supervisor in the marketing department. She is excited to decorate the fabulous event this year. Shelbie is also a member of the Real Estate Investment Club, an active member in Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, and is Hilton’s Campus Ambassador. She spent her last summer interning at Hilton’s Headquarters in McLean, Virginia as a Full-Service Branding Intern. She will be returning full-time this upcoming June in their branding department.
Autumn Huck is a senior in The School of Hospitality Business from Northport, Michigan. After spending her summer as a wedding coordinator at Cobblestone Farms TC, she found that event planning is truly her calling. With this passion, she decided to apply for a position on the Executive Board. Autumn is now the Co-Director of Arts and Entertainment and this is her first year being involved in Les Gourmets. She is very excited to bring new and exciting ideas to the table to make this years’ experience a success!

Samantha Olekszy is a freshman at Michigan State University. She joined Les Gourmets as the Assistant Director of A&E because of her love for event planning. After taking time off between high school and college, Samantha worked and traveled for 3 years before deciding to attend college and pursue a degree from the Hospitality Business School. She is excited for her 1st year working for Les Gourmets!
CO-DIRECTOR OF DONATIONS
Zoe is a sophomore at Michigan State who is pleased to have the role as Co-Director of Donations. Although Michigan State is treating her well; she prefers the less frigid winters of her hometown in Morganville, New Jersey. This is her second year participating in Les Gourmets and she hopes to gain even more experience and make this event memorable for everyone attending. Between being in the Honors College, with the hopes of being a double major in Hospitality Business and Finance, Zoe is becoming a semi-permanent resident in the library. She can also be found volunteering with Tower Guard, spending time with her sorority sisters, or working on getting students engaged in CAREER EXPO.

Grace Weng is a junior in The School of Hospitality Business from Taipei, Taiwan. She is expected to graduate Spring 2020. This is her first year serving on the Les Gourmets Executive Board as Co-Director of Donations. Having volunteered with Les Gourmets previously, Grace is looking forward to seeing the whole event come together, and be part of the process. This past summer she interned at the Courtyard by Marriott in Chicago, IL, as a rotational intern working in the food and beverage, front desk, and housekeeping departments. She hopes to bring what she learned this summer from her internship into making this year’s Les Gourmets another for the books!
DIRECTOR OF FRONT OF HOUSE
Nick Marshall is a Senior in The School of Hospitality Business at MSU, and has been food and beverage focused since the beginning of high school. This is his second year serving as a Director of the Front of House. His main front of house experience came from a summer spent working for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises at their HUB51 restaurant and SUB51 bottle service club. Nick is looking forward to helping lead another great event this year. With a new location and lots of board member experience, April can't come soon enough!

Sarah is a junior studying Hospitality Business from New Baltimore, MI. After volunteering last year, she fell in love with the event and decided to apply for the executive board. She spent this past summer in Big Sky, Montana completing a rotational internship with Montage International. She is a member of both AHLA and PCMA. She also serves on CAREER EXPO E-Board as Social Media Director. Aside from the HB School, She is very passionate about her position as Vice Chair of the Michigan State Student-Faculty Staff Hearing Board. She is so excited to be joining this team and can't wait to see the event come together!

Brendan Connolly is a Sophomore in The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University and fell in love with Food and Beverage from a young age. This is his second year in the Heart of House of Les Gourmets. His most recent heart of house experience came from his level one internship at The Apparatus Room in Detroit. Brendan is also the President of the MSU chapter of The Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management and works in the Student and Industry Resource Center at The School of Hospitality Business. As a Heart of House Co-Director, he is excited to work with his team to highlight the state of Michigan through the food and beverage for this event.

Julianna Nicholas is a senior, but this is her second year at MSU. This is her second year involved with Les Gourmets. In 2018, Julianna served on the Les Gourmets Executive Board as Supervisor for Heart of House and this year, she is the Co-Director for Heart of House. Julianna has a passion for baking and prior to attending MSU, graduated from Schoolcraft College’s Baking & Pastry Program. Therefore, she is very excited about being one of the Heart of House Co-Directors. Julianna also serves as SHFMs Vice President. She is thrilled to be a part of this amazing event and work with her fellow classmates.

Ryan Uhl is a native Chicagoan and his love for the culinary arts has a strong foundation from the diverse food there. Ryan grew up cooking dinner with his mother and going out to dinner every Friday night, frequently experiencing the plethora of restaurants in Chicago. After working in restaurants for a few years, he decided to go back to school so one day he can start his own culinary business. Naturally, The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University was an obvious choice. Last year, Ryan volunteered for Les Gourmets in the Heart of the House, and this year he is an Assistant Director of Heart of House. Ryan is currently a student supervisor at The State Room in The Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.

Jack Grant is a recent transfer from Grand Rapids Community College. He is a sophomore at MSU, is majoring in Hospitality Business. He is from Beverly, IL - a Southside neighborhood in Chicago. He has spent the last year exploring Michigan, taking classes as well as working, primarily in the hospitality industry, and is excited to continue his education through classes and clubs here at Michigan State. When’s he’s not cooking at with Les Gourmets or at home, you can find him erging with the MSU Crew Club, or eating. Probably Eating. He plans to further his HB experience this summer by moving back to Chicago for a summer internship, working at Hub51 for Lettuce Entertain You.
